Student Health Enrollments
The University requires all students to carry adequate health insurance to cover, among other costs, hospitalization and outpatient diagnostic and surgical procedures. If you reside in Chicago during the school year, the insurance must cover medical care other than for emergencies in the Chicago area.
Each year, students must satisfy the health insurance requirement in one of two ways:
Please note that students enrolled in Spring quarter -- for whom this is their first term enrolled during the 2013-2014 academic year -- must make a health insurance enrollment or waiver decision by the April 25, 2014 deadline*. If you do not, you will be enrolled automatically in the U-SHIP plan and will be held responsible for the premium installments of $1,007 for the 2013-2014 plan year. Students must complete this enrollment process each year.
Detailed information about the U-SHIP plan is available at studenthealth.uchicago.edu and at https://www.uhcsr.com/uchicago. Whether this is your first time enrolling in an insurance plan or you already know a lot about the topic, you may find that you have questions about the University Student Health Insurance Plan (U-SHIP) or about the University's health policies.
